Recycling of Old Electrical Equipment WEEE

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and waste batteries must never be placed in your waste disposal or recycling bins.

Katerbay is committed to meeting the requirements of the European Union (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Regulations 2014. These Regulations require producers of electrical and electronic equipment to finance the take back, for reuse or recycling, of WEEE resulting from products that we placed on the Irish market. In line with that commitment Katerbay will take back WEEE from you.

For products that we placed on the market after August 13th, 2005 you do not need to make a new purchase from us to qualify for free collection service. However, for product that were placed on the market before August 13th, 2005 we are only obliged take it back when you make a purchase from us of a similar type of product.

Please contact us for further details regarding end of life product disposal.

Please ensure your items are empty, packaged for transit and clearly labelled for WEEE collection.

    Producer Using Distributor

As a B2B producer, you are responsible for collecting and managing Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) in an environmentally friendly way. You must inform your business end-users about the available WEEE return and collection systems. This depends on whether you choose Regulation 18 or 19 in your WEEE waste management plan:

    • Regulation 18: You take back WEEE from end-users and report annually to the EPA.
    • Regulation 19: End-users send WEEE for treatment/recycling and provide data to you, which you then report to the EPA.

These regulations require direct communication between producers and end-users. However, if you use distributors or resellers, direct communication can be challenging. We ask you to work with your distributor to ensure they pass on information about Regulation 18 and 19 to the end-users.
